Typhoon Haiyan Relief

November 22, 2013

In the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan, people’s lives have been turned upside down with nearly five million children losing their homes, schools and communities and close to 5,000 lives lost. For those who have survived, the agony of rebuilding begins. After viewing the widespread devastation in my native country of the Philippines, I have to do something to help.  In an effort to provide hope and support for those affected by the devastation, I have partnered up with my dear friend Bui Simon’s non-profit, Angels Wings Foundation, and my mother’s non-profit, Amparito Llamas Lhuillier Education, Foundation to raise funds.  Through the ML Cares program at the M. Lhuillier Group of Companies, we hope to bring some relief and some sense of normalcy to the lives of those severely impacted. Through the power of family and friendship we hope to be a small part in mending the country.

Tom and I go home every Christmas to the Philippines, and we will go as planned but with a special purpose this visit.  With the help of my family’s business, I will personally travel the countryside looking to dispense aid wherever it is needed most.  As many of you have asked to help, we can accept any donations until we leave on December 20, 2013.  Your contribution will be put to use immediately and with special care. All funds will be used directly to provide food, water and temporary shelter for displaced and needy civilians.

The Philippines is a developing nation and a dollar goes a long way. There is so much to be done and truly every dollar counts. I want to thank you so much for offering your help as my home country struggles to rescue, repair and rebuild.

I’m looking forward to using your generous donations to spread some much needed holiday cheer and a little joy to the hearts of these people that so desperately need it. I’ll be documenting my journey with photos and am honored to share the experience with all of you. I feel so grateful that I am in a position to help, so I thank you most sincerely for joining in!

With gratitude,

Monique
